August 5th - Brands all nighter mumbles pier
Valleyboyo and Barrelreef fished Brandons all night bash at Mumbles
pier. Start was at 10pm with an 8am finish for those who could manage it.
Looked like this was gonna be a good 'un with plenty of WSF
members we knew and some new ones to meet as well. Also a lovely warm balmy summers night ( I spent most of the night in shorts)
After getting on the concrete platform at the end we set up on the
right had side and cast out our 1st baits.
1st few fish were doggies for some of the other lads then Ben who
had travelled all the way from the South West of England to fish, hooked a nice fish which turned out to be a decent smoothie.
More smoothies were caught through the night and lost along
with some pollack on the float and the odd whiting.
Barrelreef and Valley had also managed 2 dogfish each with the fishing
easing a little in the early hours although Brandon did manage a conger of 12lb.
As soon as the sun started to show it was time to have a go for
the mackerel with a good few showing along the pier. Barrelreef had 4 mackerel with Valleyboyo also getting 4 (breakfast
for later).
Barrelreef also landed a scad which for him is a new species.
Both danglers lasted the whole night but were knackered after!
All in all a good night with lots of species and some good fish.
A good craic for all involed!
